Karen Sheldon Catering has over 40 years of business experience throughout the Northern Territory.
From humble beginnings in the centre of Australia, Karen Sheldon founded "The Dolly Pot Inn" Restaurant and Squash Centre back in the 1980’s. The restaurant was famous for amazing fresh food, served with panache in the middle of the desert! Karen later moved “Up the Track” to establish a sister restaurant in Darwin and diversified the company into function and event catering.
In 2006, Amanda Swift & Sarah Hickey bought into the business, both bringing complimentary skills to become a driving force for the company’s development. With decades of business success and a strong team behind her, Karen was given the opportunity to dedicate her time and expertise to enhancing the lives of others.
In 2008, Karen Sheldon Catering branched out into professional training and developed the highly successful Future Stars Indigenous Employment Program. The Karen Sheldon Training division is committed to help close the gap on Indigenous economic disadvantage.
Over the years, Karen Sheldon Catering has developed a strong and recognisable brand that represents personalised service, fresh wholesome food bursting with flavour and innovative, outcome-focused training.

Functions & Events
Our style of food varies to suit each individual function and client, but our mantra always stays the same. That is, we always use the freshest local ingredients and we never, ever, compromise on quality, presentation and taste.
We have catered to many different styles of events, from Weddings and birthdays, to corporate conferences and office luncheons, and multi-million dollar major events. We are one of the Territory’s leaders in showcasing local produce to our clients and their guests. Crocodile, magpie geese, kangaroo, ocean caught local Barra and mudcrab, buffalo meats and cheeses, saltbush, rosellas and Kakadu plums all feature regularly in our menus.
The Karen Sheldon Catering brand has been built on “fresh, functional, wholesome food for busy people” – and that is what we live by to this day.
