October 1 & 2 - Ian Morris

Ian Morris is a biologist, educator, conservationist, author of 'Kakadu National Park' and co-author of 'A Natural History and Field Guide to Australia's Top End' and the new digital Kakadu resource, 'Kakadu Info'.
Ian is one of Australia's most acclaimed naturalists, He has worked with Aboriginal Traditional Owners of the Arnhem Land region for decades, and wwas involved in forming Kakadu National Park.
Ian promotes the magic of the bush as an NT based environmental consultant for many national parks in Australia.

October 2 - 9 - Luke Paterson

Luke has built his bird watching experience and reputation over 14 dedicated years, the majority from guiding exceptional tours in remote outback Northern Territory and Western Australia, (Kimberley Region) locations.
Luke has an in depth knowledge of the natural and cultural environments of these areas. His attention to detail and amazing ability to spot wildlife from afar, has earned him a reputation for having 'hawk eyes'.
Luke loves a challenge and will not give up looking for birds easily. One of his favourite birds is the Gouldian Finch. "They will win any birder over".

 

October 6 - 9 - Mick Jerram

Mick is a specialist in Wilderness Interpretive Guiding and Guide Training. He is also a Birdwatching Guide with a sound knowledge of the expansive Katherine/Kakadu Region,
who has been operating ecotours in the Top End since 1996. Mick loves the stone country environment and his favourite birds include the White-throated Grasswren and Rainbow Bee-eaters.
Canoeing and bush walking gives Mick access to remote areas and chances to see birds less commonly seen by others.

 

Saturday 1st:

Kakadu's endemic birds are slightly modified to their relatives in the kimberley.
Ian describes the big picture ideas of Kakadu as an extremely endemic hotspot and its birding distribution changes over time.
