George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens

Location: Geranium Street The Gardens NT0820
Phone: 08 89994418

Description

The Gardens were established 130 years ago and have survived numerous cyclones and the direct effects of World War Two. The site extends inland from the sea to a plateau providing a range of planting environments and is one of a few botanic gardens in the world which has marine and estuarine plants naturally in its grounds.
The 42 hectares of Botanic Gardens, with free wi fi in selected areas, are about 2 km north of the Darwin Business District. The lower entrance of Gardens Road features the water fountain, floral displays, Eva’s Cafe, playground, barbecues and toilets. The top Geranium Street car park and entrance leads to the Orientation Centre and leads to the only complete collection of Territory Cycads, a Desert Rose display and a brilliant Boab tree collection.
