Brown’s Mart is an iconic, much loved performance space that has been the centre of community arts development for over 40 years. It is the only venue in Darwin that supports a continuous program of new, local theatre in an intimate setting and welcoming atmosphere, entertaining audiences with stories that are engaging, culturally diverse and thought provoking. News

8 – 17 May 2018 THE TURQUOISE ELEPHANT, Written by Stephen Carleton, Directed by Gail Evans Presented by Knock-em-Down Theatre and Brown’s Mart Productions The Turquoise Elephant is an acerbically funny absurdist farce, portraying the chaos of a not too distant future world affected by climate change. As the planet disintegrates, three women from a grotesquely privileged political family observe the chaos - from their fortified, hermetically sealed, temperature controlled, penthouse. Stephen Carleton’s shockingly black political farce won the 2015 Griffin Award. It’s urgent, contemporary, hilarious and alarmingly close to being true!
