Brown’s Mart is an iconic, much loved performance space that has been the centre of community arts development for over 40 years. It is the only venue in Darwin that supports a continuous program of new, local theatre in an intimate setting and welcoming atmosphere, entertaining audiences with stories that are engaging, culturally diverse and thought provoking. As one of Darwin’s oldest and most significant heritage buildings, located in the heart of Darwin City, it is a draw card to those visitors to the Territory looking to identify and experience local culture and history.

NT News Live on Fridays - In partnership with The NT News, Live on Fridays returns to Brown’s Mart in May for another fabulous Dry Season of free live music. This chilled and picturesque courtyard venue, smack bang in the heart of Darwin City, is the perfect place to head for after work drinks and enjoy performances by leading local and touring musicians’ every Friday from May to October. Evening Reads@7.30pm - Evening Reads@7.30pm, Brown’s Mart Productions is pleased to present their inaugural script-in-hand play readings series of established and new works. Open to the public, these one-night only performances are part of Brown’s Mart’s mission to develop local artists, directing and acting skills by performing for live audiences in a casual atmosphere with minimal production elements. Brown’s Mart Theatre is pleased to announce that a new season of ‘And I’m the Queen of Sheba’ by Darwin based playwright, Kate Wyvill will be opening at Brown’s Mart in June this year. "As a person who has spent most of my life on a cattle station, I found the play very moving and spot on. It was by far the best play I have seen.
