Many people drive to Katherine. From Darwin we are only 300kms south. There are 3 main road side stops with cafes, fuel and bathroom amenities. They also offer limited accommodation for those who would like to stop overnight. There are two car rental companies within Katherine, Thrifty and Hertz, with drop off and pick up points.
You can now fly direct to Katherine via Air North and hire a pre-booked vehicle from the airport, or fly into Darwin and hire a vehicle from the Darwin airport - Hertz, Thrifty & Avis.
Train - The Ghan
The magnificent Ghan runs through the centre of Australia from Adelaide to Darwin, and Katherine is one of the major visiting destinations.
